Dazzling – a photo challenge

Ailsa’ photo challenge is Travel theme: Dazzling.

These were taken at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne. The Ai Weiwei and Andy Warhol exhibition is a  must-see.

In the foyer is Ai Weiwei’s  “Chandelier with Restored Han Dynasty Lamps for the Emperor”. It’s a  five-metre tall chandelier of crystal and light. The chandelier is a symbol of extravagance for Ai, who grew up in exile without lights or candles during China’s Cultural Revolution.

The chandelier stands magnificently in front of the already impressive water wall. Naturally, instagram frenzy is in full swing here with Ai Weiwei’s incredible “Forever Bicycles 2015” installation just around the corner. It soars 4 levels up and is made up of 1500 Forever bicycles.
