My favourite pix for 2012 start in the Blue Mountains, 2 hours from Sydney, and where I spent my high school years. A huge national park, much of it still wilderness but also partly accessible for humble bush walkers.
My own backyard boasts a magnificent olive tree and two native Australian lillipillies. The lillipillies were just about to flower for this shot.
A trip to Europe included The Netherlands where we stayed in beautiful Amsterdam, a great city to explore and very enjoyable to live in.
A side trip took us to Venice for a week. Venice is a living museum piece and a photographer’s dream.
A highly recommended, extremely fast train trip from Amsterdam to Paris gave us a look at another culture. Paris of course has everything. These pix provide a mere snapshot.
Whilst we were travelling overseas our recently acquired kitten, Ziggy stressed out his babysitter by being run over by a car. Just as we were returning he had to go to the vet and required serious surgery on a broken leg. Here he is recuperating.
In a sad year my father passed away, only 18 months after my mother. I always loved this photo of them relaxing at a country cottage on a weekend away with all of us.
And to end the year our unique wooden christmas tree with real candles. Handmade by my father about 20 years ago, it’s still a favourite and looks beautiful lit up with candles and tiny wooden ornaments.
